THE USEFUL BITS
A small editor
with the essentials.
- Open, save, rename. Work with UTF-8 text files using Android’s file picker. Rename depends on the storage provider.
- Find your words. Undo, cut, copy, paste, select, find, and replace.
- Make it comfortable. Nine font presets, word wrap, and an optional line-and-column status bar.
- Pick up where you left off. Local draft recovery remembers unfinished text. Save important notes as files.

- Download the APK using the button above.
- Open it on your Android phone. If prompted, allow the app opening the APK to install it.
- Launch Notepad 98. Type, then choose File → Save.
Requires Android 8 or newer. This is a direct APK download, not a Google Play installation.
Already using an earlier build?
Version 1.7.5 updates 1.7.4 in place, preserving local drafts and preferences. If you use 1.7.3 or older, save your note as a text file, uninstall that older app once, then install this version and reopen the file. Unsaved drafts and preferences do not transfer through uninstall.

Added Help → Check for updates, with a verified installer download and a prompt before applying it.

Added Help → Check for updates and verified APK downloads. A new permanent signing key requires one reinstall after saving your notes; future updates install in place.

Opens in a smaller window, with standard Windows resizing and a smaller minimum size. Added the option to launch Notepad 98 after installation.

Cleaned up desktop wording and made the themed editor fill the window. Added a desktop shortcut choice in the installer and verified upgrades over 1.8.1 with local app data preserved.

Added a standalone Windows installer with all 17 themes, offline editing, local drafts, a Start menu shortcut, and an uninstaller. Android and browser versions are unchanged.

Added a working browser editor with all 17 themes, local drafts, and text-file downloads. Install the web app on Windows through Edge or Chrome, with offline editing after the first successful load. Android remains at 1.7.3.
